Bond girl: Manuela
007 Film: Moonraker (1979)
Bond connection: Manuela is a fellow British intelligence operative based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Following a trail of evidence from Venini Glass in Venice to Rio de Janeiro, James Bond is welcomed by local intelligence liaison, Manuela. Manuela, an operative of Station VH, notes that Carlos and Wilmsberg, the company responsible for exporting Hugo Drax's chemical weapons, are very big importers in Rio and have have a warehouse on Carioca Avenue.
The pair spend the afternoon together making love. In the evening, she leads 007 through the carnival crowd and stands guard outside Carlos & Wilmsberg's warehouse while Bond investigates inside. She is attacked by a carnival costumed Jaws, but is saved when a few carnival goers move Jaws away from her and Bond soon arrives and they flee the scene. She is not seen the next day, it is possible Bond gave her some time to recuperate after the attempt on her life.
