In Goldfinger's "Operation Grand Slam", the pilots of Pussy Galore's Flying Circus are responsible for spraying Delta 9 nerve gas over Fort Knox. In theory, the deadly gas was to kill the gold depository's defenders, allowing Goldfinger to walk in unopposed and plant an atomic device in the vault. On the day of the attack, Operation Grand Slam began with Pussy Galore's Flying Circus spraying the gas over Fort Knox as planned. However, Bond had seduced Pussy, convincing her to replace the nerve gas with a harmless substance and alert the U.S. government about Goldfinger's plan.

Bond girl: Sévérine

Bond girl: Sévérine
007 Film: Skyfall (2012)
Actress: Bérénice Marlohe

Bond connectionSévérine is the representative of villain Raoul Silva. Appearing as a classic femme fatale, Sévérine's dark and sinister past is catching up with her and although initially posing as a potential enemy to Bond, she soon realizes he is probably her best opportunity of a way out of the dangerous world she is living in.

James Bond first sees Sévérine participating in Patrice's assassination in an apartment building across the way from himself and the assassin. After witnessing the assasination of a supposed art dealer, Bond successfully disarms Patrice, but before he is able to tell Bond who he is working for, he falls out of the building to his death. Sévérine now alone in the apartment opposite, witnesses this; after a sinister glance towards Bond she leaves to re-join her guards. Searching through Patrice's briefcase, Bond finds a casino chip belonging to a casino in Macau (this acting as payment for Patrice allowing Silva to remain hidden and unknown).

Knowing the previous assassination has been compromised by Bond, Sévérine awaits Bond's arrival at the casino to claim the money that belonged to Patrice. Bond spots Sévérine leaning against a staircase banister; she sees him and informs her guards she'll deal with him herself. Joining Bond on the casino floor, Sévérine teases Bond for a drink to which Bond accepts her offer.

Becoming acquainted, the pair sit at the bar, while being watched by her guards. After briefly trying to out-smart one another Bond reveals his true motives: he wants to meet her employer. Suddenly, a new side to Sévérine is displayed. She warns him to be careful of what he wishes for and as she goes to leave, Bond pulls her back. Slyly, Sévérine 'eyes' up her guards hoping for them to kill Bond as she feels she is being threatened but after Bond attempts to psychologize her it is revealed that she had been saved from the Macau sex trade by Silva and now works as his representative. Promising to help her escape being Silva's captive, Bond asks for her to join forces in allowing him to find the man in the shadows.

Trusting Bond, she warns him that due to her previous attitude, as he goes to leave the casino, her men will try and kill him. Testing his ability and skill of survival she tells him that if he is to survive, he will find her on the Chimera (her yacht) where they will set sail together to head to Silva's base.

Setting sail for Silva's base, Sévérine seems disappointed that Bond hasn't made it out of the casino alive. Soon does she discover, he has in fact survived and hidden on board. Joining her in the shower, the pair lower their former guarded attitude to one another and have savage sex.

In the morning, Sévérine watches as they approach Dead Island (Silva's base), seemingly in fear (possibly due to having Bond on board). Bond joins her on the deck. As she tells him it's not too late to turn back, the men on the boat (now Silva's men, not Sévérine) hold them at gun point; Bond fully well knowing that this won't be the case.

The pair now handcuffed, Bond and Sévérine are now escorted through the derelict streets of the abandoned island to which Sévérine informs Bond was once the home to many, until Silva made them believe there was a leak at the local chemical plant causing them all to flee. Knowing Silva's ways, Sévérine warns Bond that he always gets what he wants in the end. Bond is taken to meet Silva while Sévérine is beaten for her defection.

Following Silva's interrogation, Bond is taken outside to find Sévérine bloodied and bound to a collapsed statue. After carefully placing a shot glass of scotch on Sévérine's head, Silva hands Bond an antique Percussion Cap Pistol and challenges him to shoot the glass off her head - a sadistic opportunity to improve his recent, sub-par marksmanship scores.
Bond misses far to her left but Silva shoots her squarely in the head, killing her.

Bond girl: Strawberry Fields

Bond girl: Strawberry Fields
007 Film: Quantum of Solace (2008)
Actress: Gemma Arterton

Bond connectionStrawberry Fields is an MI6 agent working at the British consulate, stationed in Bolivia. When Bond takes it upon himself to work away from orders, following Dominic Greene to Bolivia, Fields is assigned the job of stopping James Bond, turning him around and putting him back on the first plane back to London.

Waiting for Bond and his ally Rene Mathis at La Paz airport, Fields is quick to assert herself over the British MI6 agent. However, Bond still feels he can take advantage due to her younger age. Shooting down Bond's sarcasm, Fields threatens to leave Bond in jail over night until their flight back to London the following morning. Bond doesn't hesitate to argue against Fields' threats. However, he tells her they still have "all night".

Getting a taxi to a cheap hostel, Fields informs Bond and Mathis that they are undercover as teachers on sabbatical. Bond demands that she gets back into the taxi, which she does after second thought. Bond then checks the three into the Andean Grand Hotel, a five-star resort in the city center of Bolivia. When paired in a room with Bond, she succumbs to his charms and sleeps with him.

Feeling guilty about sleeping with Bond, Fields tells him she doesn't think she can ever forgive herself. Working his charms once again and trying to cheer her up, Bond offers to take her to a party Mathis has recently got invites too, the host of which being Dominic Greene. Fields agrees to the offer and the pair travel together.

While at the party, Bond and Fields watch Greene's environmentally targeted speech and are introduced to the Bolivian Chief of Police, who is secretly a double agent working for the corrupt General Medrano. When Bond leaves Fields with the Chief of Police and Mathis, she keeps a watchful eye on Bond's movements. Noticing tensions rising between Bond, Camille Montes and Dominic Greene, she decides to confront but as she walks up the stairs she realises she must make a choice: still work to orders and stop Bond from leaving with Camille or help Bond on his quest by allowing him to leave. Choosing the latter, when Greene orders his henchman Elvis to follow Bond and Camille, Fields trips him up down the stairs allowing Bond to flee but drawing attention to herself.

Sometime after leaving the party, Fields clearly knows she is being followed by Greene's henchmen. After leaving a note at the reception of the hotel for Bond saying 'Run!', Fields fate is soon cemented when she is discovered by M lying naked on the bed in the hotel room, covered head to toe in oil. When Bond arrives back, he tells M that the use of oil is misdirection from Greene as he is in fact planning on controlling Bolivia's water supply. Managing to break free from M's guards escorting Bond from the premesis, Bond confronts M, telling her Fields showed true bravery and that he demands to see that written in her final report.

Bond girl: Camille Montes

Bond girl: Camille Montes
007 Film: Quantum of Solace (2008)
Actress: Olga Kurylenko

Bond connectionCamille Montes Rivero is a Bolivian national. She first meets Bond in Haiti, where she intends to kill General Medrano, who murdered her entire family when she was a child (shooting her father in the head, then raping her mother and older sister before strangling them to death). She sleeps with Quantum member Dominic Greene to get to Medrano, but Greene soon grows suspicious of her and plans to kill her.

Upon first meeting Bond, Camille assumes that he is Mr. Slate, a geologist working for Greene, who had offered to sell her classified information. After attempting to kill "Slate", she returns to Greene, intent on being introduced to Medrano, formerly head of the Bolivian Army. When Greene betrays Camille, Bond rescues her, and they team up to go after Greene and Medrano.

Bond leaves Camille for a short period of time after she is knocked unconscious during an intense boat chase in Haiti to follow Greene to Austria, tracking him to a performance of Tosca. Camille soon appears at Greene's formal fundraising party to ruin it. Greene attempts to push her from a balcony but, once again, Bond saves her life.

Bond intervenes and takes her away from Greene, using MI6 Agent Strawberry Fields as a distraction, to prevent Greene's associate from following Bond and Camille as they leave the party; this costs Fields her life. Camille watches Bond as he kills Bolivian police officers in cold blood as revenge for shooting his ally Rene Mathis.

Camille and Bond trace Greene and Medrano to a desert eco-hotel. While Bond goes to fight Greene and his men, Camille faces Medrano, who attempts to rape and kill her. Camille gets the upper hand, however, and kills the dictator with a single shot to the head. As the hotel collapses around them, Bond shields Camille from the fire, and helps her escape. Bond leaves Greene in the middle of the desert and drives Camille to take a train station so she can go back to her home. The two share a quick kiss, and Camille wishes Bond luck in conquering his personal demons.

Bond girl: Vesper Lynd (2006)

Photo © EON, United Artists, Danjaq LLC
Bond girl: Vesper Lynd
007 Film: Casino Royale (2006)
Actress: Eva Green

Bond connectionVesper Lynd is a foreign liaison agent from the HM Treasury's Financial Action Task Force assigned to make sure that Bond adequately manages the funds provided by MI6. However, she is secretly a double agent working for Quantum, the very terrorist organization MI6 is trying to stop. She is an unwilling traitor, however; she is only helping Quantum because they have taken her lover Yusef hostage and threatened to kill him if she does not cooperate.

Vesper is initially skeptical about Bond's ego and at first is unwilling to be his trophy at the poker tournament with Le Chiffre. She refuses to bankroll him after he goes bankrupt on an early hand. However, she assists Bond during his struggle with Steven Obanno, knocking away the gun from the latter. She afterwards retreats to the shower, feeling that she has blood on her hands from helping to kill Obanno. Bond kisses the "blood" off her hands to comfort her, and they return to the casino. Shortly afterwards she saves Bond's life. Poisoned by Le Chiffre's girlfriend, Valenka, Bond struggles unsuccessfully to connect a key wire to his automatic external defibrillator, but Vesper arrives and makes the proper connection, allowing the machine to revive him.

After Bond wins the tournament, Le Chiffre kidnaps Vesper, and Bond gives chase. They fall into Le Chiffre's trap, but both are saved by Quantum henchman Mr. White, who shoots and kills Le Chiffre for misappropriating his organisation's funds.

While both are in a hospital to recover from torture, Bond and Vesper fall deeply in love, and Bond plans to resign from the service in order to be with her. As in the novel, Bond and Vesper go on vacation to Venice, hoping to start a new life. Unknown to Bond, however, Vesper embezzles the money and delivers it to a group of Quantum henchmen. When Bond realizes what has happened and goes after Vesper, the thugs take her hostage and lock her in an elevator while they do battle with him. After several explosions, the flooded building sinks, but Vesper resigns herself to death and locks herself in, even as Bond frantically tries to open the elevator. In her final gesture, she kisses Bond's hands to clear him of guilt. Bond finally extricates her and tries to revive her using CPR, to no avail.

As in the novel, Bond copes with his lover's death by renouncing her, saying, "The job's done and the bitch is dead." M chastises him, assuming that Lynd had cut a deal with her blackmailers to spare him in return for the money, and states that "I'm sure she hoped they'd let her live. But she must have known she was going to her death." When Bond opens Vesper's mobile phone afterwards, he finds that she has left Mr. White's phone number, enabling Bond to track down and confront him at the movie's end.
