Wednesday 15 October 2014

We woke up in Royal Garden Hotel and then we ordered breakfast in the room and it was really awesome. Then we left this hotel and the concierge called us a taxi and we moved to our second hotel, which was West Cromwell Hotel.

Hotel: West Cromwell Hotel
Address: 66 West Cromwell Road
Price: 227,80 GPB / two nights, including breakfast, reserved via Booking.com
Wi-Fi: 5 GPB / 24 hours

We left our luggage there and started to move towards London Film Museum and Bond in Motion exhibition. We went there by metro and when we got up from metro tunnel in the Covent Garden station, we saw a beautiful floating building, which was an art structure "Take my Lightning but Don't Steal my Thunder" made by Alex Chinneck.

Finally we arrived at Bond in Motion exhibition, which is like a candy shop for a Bond fan or someone who likes cars. We were invited for this awesome exhibition and London Film Museum was full of original cars and other vehicles which were used in different Bond films. Here are some photo examples:

Mika & Pirita / Aston Martin DB5 from "GoldenEye" (1995)

Aston Martin V12 Vanquish / "Die Another Day" (2002)

Jaguar XKR / "Die Another Day" (2002)

Read our article and see over 100 pictures from the exhibition here:

After seeing the cars (and shopping plenty of souvenirs from the gift shop) we took a metro again and went to Trafalgar Square and tried to visit National Gallery, but due to some strike, only a part of the museum was open and the room that we were most interested in was the Sackler Room, which was closed today. So, we have to come back tomorrow.

We circled around the Trafalgal Square and saw the statue of Nelson, which is guarded by four lions. We saw also blue Hahn/Cock sculpture and illusion artists.

There used to be a bulldog figure on M´s table but it seems that in "SPECTRE" (2015) it has been replaced and now there is a lion figure.

Hahn/Cock was a sculpture of a giant blue cockerel by the German artist Katharina Fritsch. It was unveiled in London's Trafalgar Square on 25 July 2013 and was displayed on the vacant fourth plinth.

The fibreglass work stood 4.72 metres (15.5 ft) high and was the sixth work to be displayed on the plinth, on which it stayed until 17th February 2015.

Amazing....huh?

Just outside the square is the Malaysia house, which is MI6 building in "The Living Daylights" (1987).

Then we walked down the Whitehall and found the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), and its address is 55, Whitehall. James Bond (Daniel Craig) and Eve Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) are standing on the roof of this building at the end of "Skyfall" (2012).

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) is a British government department created on 3 October 2008 by then-Prime Minister Gordon Brown to take over some of the functions related to energy of the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform and those relating to climate change of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Then we visited the front of Buckingham Palace and Canada Gate, which we saw last time during our 2010 London journey. We have visited London also in 2013.

The next location was 104 Pall Mall, where the Reform Club is. The club was seen in "Die Another Day", where 007 (Pierce Brosnan) had a sword fight with Gustav Graves (Toby Stephens).

The Reform Club is a private members club on the south side of Pall Mall in central London. As with all Gentlemen's clubs, it originally comprised an all-male membership, but was among the first to change its rules to include the admission of women in 1981.

Next stop: Piccadilly Circus and Planet Hollywood, address 57-60 Haymarket, where Mika took Casino Royale drink and Pirita and daughter had ice-creams.

Casino Royale drink includes magical mix of midori, malibu and
banana liqueur finished with the light flavour of pineapple juice and sours.

Planet Hollywood is also a place where we had visited before. It has a splendid James Bond Cabinet inside the restaurant. See our introduction of the restaurant here:

It started to rain, but anyhow we went to metro again and to Camden. This part of the London is really a place for artists, houses are painted with various colours and decorated with themes.

Our mission was to find the statue of Amy Winehouse at Camden Staples Market place. Finding it proved almost mission impossible, but finally someone was able to tell the place where the statue was. Camden Staples Market  is a marketplace, where you can find many different kinds of foods. Scents of oriental food really made you feel hungry. When we found the spot where Amy´s statue was supposed to be, somebody said to us: "Sorry, the statue is outside only until 7 o'clock PM and then it is moved inside behind locked doors, otherwise someone will try to steal it. Tomorrow they will bring it back outside again." Damn, all this walking in the rain for nothing... Not at all actually, Camden is a really inspiring place and we bought some souvenirs and found also a bar "The World's End" (you know the movie, where one of the stars is Pierce Brosnan) before taking a metro again and returning to our hotel.

Next day we will visit National Gallery and see the place where Bond meets new Q in "Skyfall".

Go to day three here
