The star dropped into the RTE Studios in Dublin, Ireland, to talk about An Evening With Sir Roger Moore on The Late Late Show on Saturday.

Food: Light breakfast of eggs and toast
Bond book appearanceDoubleShot (2000)
Experience of 007 Travelers: Self-made

"Bond had arrived at the scene fifteen minutes earlier. The night had not given him the rest he had hoped for, so he had begun the day with the persistent headache and a nervous energy that bordered on anxiety. He had eaten a light breakfast of eggs and toast in the hotel (and hadn't seen the twins, thank God), then walked the quarter mile to the medina. Now, though, as he watched the old quarter of town come alive with the noise and smells of the day's bartering, Bond felt a little better. The anticipation of something happening, of some possible revelation, brought back the welcome rush of excitement and interest "

Tappaako Tallium - myrkky?

Uusimmassa James Bond -elokuvassa ”007 SPECTRE” (2015) Mr. White (Jesper Christensen) sairastuu talliummyrkytyksestä niin pahasti, että hän tekee itsemurhan. Miten voimakas myrkky tallium on todellisuudessa?

Photo © EON, United Artists, Danjaq LLC

Noin gramman annos talliumia on ihmiselle tappava.

007 Drink: Double Johnny Walker whiskey

Drink: Double Johnny Walker whiskey
Bond book appearance: The Facts of Death (1998)
Experience of 007 Travelers: @ home

"Two hours later, Bond saw a small bar called the Watering Hole off the road to the right. A sign on the door warned, "Don't Mess with Texas." He stumbled inside and surveyed the place. A saloon would have been a more appropriate description, as it was full of an odd mixture of cowboys and long-haired biker types. The jukebox was blaring one of George Jones's more famous beer-drinking songs at an extraordinary volume. Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at Bond. A pool player in the middle of a shot scratched the table as he looked up and saw the battered figure in the doorway.
Bond ignored them all and went straight to the bar.
"Whiskey," he ordered. "A double."
The bartender didn't say a word and poured him two glasses of Johnny Walker. "Have a double double, mister. What the hell happened to you?
"Nothing much," he replied. "Just fell off a cliff."

007 Food: Traditional dhal bhat, a lentil soup over rice

Food: Traditional dhal bhat, a lentil soup over rice
Bond book appearanceHigh Time to Kill
Experience of 007 Travelers: Self-made

"Sunset came and dinner was served on a low table inside the lodge. The food was a traditional dhal bhat, a lenti soup over rice. A few vegetables, or sabji, were served with cumin, garlic and ginger. Hot tea accompanied the meal. By the time they had finished, Bond and Chandra were ready to turn in, the altitude and food having had a soporific effect on them. Bond unrolled his Marmot Col sleeping bag, which wasn't as warm as the more popular Cwm, but was lighter and more versatile at altitude. The wooden floor was hard, but at least there was the luxury of having a roof over their heads."

Goldfinger's ejector seat stunt - is it possible?

Leading scientists and engineers have studied stunts in James Bond films.

Goldfinger's (Gert Fröbe) henchman has a gun to Bond's (Sean Connery) head as 007 drives his Aston Martin. Bond flicks the ejector seat switch on his gear stick and the hapless villain shoots out of the roof, leaving Bond free to make his escape.

Photo © EON, United Artists, Danjaq LLC
Andrew Martin, business development manager at Martin Baker, a company that makes ejector seats for aircraft, says that it would be possible to put an ejector seat into a car, but to do so Bond would need to replace his sports car with a big 4×4 vehicle.
'You need enough height in the cabin to integrate the ejector seat,' he says. 'In an aeroplane, the pilot doesn't fly with their helmet touching the roof.'
Martin adds that in a sports car seat, the driver and passenger lean back with their knees up, rather than sitting upright in the seat, which is required for ejection.
'After Bond pressed the button, it would take only one second before the passenger was no longer in the car,' he says. Therefore Bond wouldn't need to worry about alerting his gun-wielding assailant to his plans halfway through the manoeuvre.
He adds: 'There would be no difference in the shape of the seat. Maybe the passenger would wonder why his seat was hard plastic rather than Bond's nice leather driver's seat, but there would be no other clues as to what was underneath him.'

Martin does say, however, that Bond would need some sort of protection between him and the passenger, otherwise he'd get a nasty burn when the rocket-propelled ejector seat took off.

Moonraker's Airborne fight and soft landing - is it possible?

Leading scientists and engineers have studied stunts in James Bond films.

Photo © EON, United Artists, Danjaq LLC

Bond (Roger Moore) and iconic baddie Jaws (Richard Kiel) tussle in mid-air for a single parachute in the film "Moonraker" (1979). Bond wins, skydiving to safety, and Jaws plummets to what looks like certain death.

Luckily for the villain, he lands on a huge circus tent and walks away with just a few bruises.
'We've calculated this and it definitely is possible,' says Professor Tolan.
Bond uses his air resistance and changes speed by adjusting his body position to become more streamlined.

He would also have enough time to fight Jaws for the parachute, put it on and open it, if they both jumped out of the aircraft at a height of 16,404 feet (5,000 metres).
'We also calculated that when Jaws hits the circus tent, he would survive, Profesor Tolin explains.

'Jaws's speed falling without a parachute would be 93 to 112mph (150 to 180km/h). If you are decelerated by a tent approximately 10m high, then it is still a heavy fall and you will be hurt, but not killed.'

Jaws appears indestructible. He survives when a statue falls on his head, he's hit by a van, thrown from a train off a cliff and even goes over a waterfall.

According to Professor Tolan, though, there's no way Jaws could survive the cable car crash in "The Spy Who Loved Me" (1977).

'That's completely ridiculous, even the strongest person would be smashed to pieces by the force,' he says.

Sir Roger Moore 89 years today (14 October 2016)

Happy 89th Birthday, Sir Roger Moore!

Who: Roger George Moore
Born: 14 October 1927, London, England

007 Travelers congratulates!

Photo: ibtimes.uk.com

Roger Moore trivia facts:

  • While a struggling young actor in the early 1950s, he briefly worked as a truck driver. Many years later, he impressed the crew on the set of "A View to a Kill(1985) with his truck driving skills.
  • Ironically, for an actor who has played a weapons-wielding James Bond in no fewer than 7 movies, Moore suffers from hoplophobia (fear of firearms).
  • Has named "The Spy Who Loved Me" (1977) as his favorite Bond movie of the seven he starred in, and "A View to a Kill "(1985) as his least favorite.
